Abstract

Abstract

The law nº 2021-1017 of 2 August 2021 constitutes a major step in the French bioethics framework. The issue of donation, which is often less publicized, required numerous adjustments in the hope of increasing the number of potential donors, but also of protecting the person who, anonymously and selflessly, offers part or even all of his or her body. Body donation for medical teaching and research purposes has thus been included in the legislative part of the Public Health Code for the first time. At the same time, the conditions for donating gametes, hematopoietic stem cells or blood have been considerably simplified. The future will tell whether these innovations will have the expected impact on the flagrant shortage of human body elements and products.
